Your favourite guest blogger is back! It is Christelle from The Way It’s Worn, here to share even more reasons why Rana Cheikha remains my go-to footwear label.
I am a colourful soul. I don’t do black. Proof? Last month I wore a black jumpsuit, and suddenly everyone was checking if I was OK. Yes, my joyful style reputation precedes me. I have always managed to seamlessly sneak – or so I would like to believe – my high on dopamine touch into every gathering, until I got the dreaded message: “… DRESS CODE: BLACK …”.
If I was going to pull off an all-black look, I might as well do it properly and snag the Ain City oxfords I had been eyeing for ages. Honestly, my heart was already hopelessly set on the Auburn pair… but hey, I had to quit making excuses and finally get the black shoes my wardrobe was practically begging for.
With my sidekick Ain, I powered through a 10-hour fashion show marathon:
2 PM: making an entrance and sharing excitement with everyone
3 PM: grabbing a quick bite while avoiding any stains
4 PM: filming backstage and capturing all the candid moments
5 PM: dealing with a wardrobe malfunction and soldering through it
6 PM: taking in the final rehearsals and appreciating the calm before the storm
7 PM: producing interviews and working the room
8.30 PM: RUNWAY TIME
10 PM: following the designers like a paparazzi
10.30 PM: partying and calling it a day
By the end of it, I was dead, not because of my feet rather from the brutal heat. Keep in mind we are talking mid-summer Beirut humidity. The next morning, while I needed serious time to recuperate, all Ain needed was a quick wipe with a dry cloth.
Just as I started styling my next colorful look, I kid you not, a new invite popped up and at the bottom it read: “dress code: black”! Looks like once Ain and I got started, there is no slowing us down!
If you find Ain a bit too masculine, no worries, Rana Cheikha offers other black beauties. Slow fashion does not mean lack of options! If you are a boho lady, there is Sia. If you like to play with laces and knots, there is Kawkab. Do you want to dance the night away? Lail is your partner. When winter hits, there is RAML 327 for the combat boot lovers, and Alya for Victorian era enthusiasts. As for me, my go-to black boot is Teir – you can read my review here.
With this guest series coming to an end, it is needless to say that I, nor any of us, should mourn the fun when we see “dress code: black”!
